Nail Polish: Deborah Lippmann "Brown Eyed Girl"

This is a super quick post because I have to read a lot of Henry James tonight (What Maisie Knew) -- so I'll let the pictures do most of the work. I picked this up at Holt Renfrew but there was only one left at the Bloor Street location and I don't even see it listed on the website. Not sure what's going on there, and I hate creating lemmings that can't be fulfilled, but it's too pretty not to share. I've been wearing it for over a week and that rarely happens nowadays. If you've been looking for a shimmery "brown" polish with a lot of red/copper mystery fabulousness, this is it. Enjoy!

  1. I like! My nails get so trashed when I climb though, I can barely keep a polish looking good for a single day, so I try not to splurge so often when the university climbing center is open :P

  2. That IS gorgeous! And definitely worth looking for. I think it's lovely to wear during Fall. Makes me think of leaves and it just looks so..warm!

  4. Ooo, it looks like glowing embers =)

  5. Gorgeous colour! I'm obsessed with Lippmann's glitter polishes. I think I have seven or eight of them. Have you tried Butter London or Julep polishes? Also phenomenal. :)

    Also, you should totally try the Zoya polish remover. I bought a salon-sized bottle (960ml), I love it so much. :D It takes off glitter polish better than anything else I've tried, too!

  6. Wow, that is a sexy color! Being a brown eyed girl myself, I need to track a bottle down!

  7. Liz, ya know, I've been looking for that rusty brown color with golden shimmer. And I thought that this would be it, but it looks sort of red when it dries down. Beautiful but more of a claret color, no? Alas I am still on the hunt.

    FYI, I succumbed and have obtained a bottle of Dior's Camel polish. Yikes, I need help. Because I ended up getting other things with my order. And I also got Revlon's Grey Suede. Which looks similar to DL's Fashion and to Essie's Jazz. I need to slap myself. So if you need me, I'll be in the corner punishing myself for being naughty.

  8. Oh my goodness, Liz....this is screamingly sexy on you! By the way, ever since I read the title of this post, I have been humming the song of the same name (earworm!!) There's something almost luminous about this shade and I love how it's not too orange-y -- it seems to glow with an inner life! Gahhhhh......now I'll have to hunt it down, lol!! Gorgeous swatches!

  9. @Larie - Is it too distracting to climb when you have sexy nails on? ;) Hmm... I wonder if ours has a climbing facility. I'm so intimidated by the main athletic centre.

    @Carmela - We're on the same page! I felt like that part was obvious so didn't feel the need to spell it out. So glad you can see the connection! :)

    @meredith - I SOOO agree. The shizz. Exactly!

    @Dovey - Cool, I didn't think of that! You're so right!

    @Denise - You just managed to sell me completely on the Zoya remover. Sometimes I hesitate to put on glittery nail polish because the removal is such a pain! As for Julep, I believe it's also you who inspired me to check out their website the other day. They look amazing!

    @Maribeth - I hope you find one! I think all the brown-eyed girls deserve it. :)

    @D - My friend, no slapping of the self necessary! We all indulge (and over-indulge) sometimes. You deserve a treat now and then. I don't know what else you got and how that extends past the limit you've drawn, but luckily there are such things as returns and resolutions. Tomorrow's always a new day. :)))

    @lackynails - I agree!

    @Eugenia - Oooh, I was so sure that you'd already have it. Glad I can return the lemming favours for once, lol! What I love about this is how different it looks on the nails than it does in the bottle without disappointing. There are some serious depths to it. And now: Do you remember when we used to sing, sha la la la la la la la la la la te daaaaaaa! ;D

  11. I love it!! I need some new fall nail colours I think! I've only bought one since September.

  12. I love red-toned browns. This one looks really luxe! I wish the Deborah Lippmann range was available in Australia.

  13. Interesting that this is called Brown Eyed Girl...it looks pretty red on you - but still utterly fabulous, whatever the name! Its not my kind of shade but wow can you ever work it! So, so lovely and classy and sexy all at the same time. I highly approve of this purchase, my friend! Wear it well :)

  14. @Tracy D - Thanks, Trace! :)

    @Tracy - I think you'll love it!

    @Vita - ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Oh, we need to set you up with some Lippmann STAT. I can't imagine living without her nail polishes now.

    @Toya - I know, it's nothing like "brown" on the nails! And it looks so different in every medium: from promo pics to bottle to nail. Thanks for the high praise, friend. I'm only rubbing it off today after wearing it for nearly 2 weeks! :)

  15. LOVE this color! It has amazing depth too...I'd get really distracted if I had this on my nails (that goes for most polishes, though hehe). By the way, how's the formula on this?

  16. It wore for almost 2 weeks without chipping so I'd say that it's amazing! I layered it with my usual Sally Hansen base coat and Seche Vite top coat.

  17. That is a gorgeous shade for fall. Rustic red brown, yet not what you'll call copper.

  18. That shade is perfect for fall (if it would just arrive already!). I completely agree with Adorable On Your Vanity. Am so not into copper at all.

    And, of course, Denise would get the salon sized bottle of nail polish remover! lol

  19. O.M.G you have me salivating over this color. So pretty! Your swatches are amazing as usual. Anything red-copper has my heart skipping a beat. Thanks for reviewing this!!

  20. @Mary - I didn't realize Denise said she bought the salon size, lol. I love copper but am not so crazy about fall (which means WINTER IS COMING #GoT). I think this can be a ravishing colour all year round!

    @Kristie - Thanks so much! Means a lot because your photos are always stellar and looking at your blog always makes me want to shell out for a better camera. :) I hope you find this! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.
