Colours!

When spring arrives, I usually long for sheers and nudes and pale things that whisper delicate romance. This year, I want juicy, vibrant COLOURS!

Again, I seem to be running on a colour theme. This year I'm boarding the orange/coral/red + aqua/turquoise/blue train. To begin, I'm breaking in the red pumps and rocking matching red nails:

Pumps from Aldo

I'm also venturing into bright lips with Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple. (Yes, I broke the lippie ban but... this is birthday month!)

I also needed a makeup bag that I did not want to throw into the garbage for being drab and ugly. (Coming up: an update on "What's In My Makeup Bag".)

H&M

I'm all for Pantone 2012 Colour of the Year, which is dubbed "Tangerine Tango." Oh, look! Sephora is ready to take all your money.

I may also need one of these blue dresses:

For those excited for summer makeup collections, here's a glimpse at Chanel Summer 2012 and Dior Summer 2012. Those Dior nail polishes are right up my alley. (Hey, don't shoot the messenger. Ready your wallets or gird your loins!)

And if you love bright colours, you'll want to check out this fantastic blog called Color Me Katie. It always cheers me up on a drab day!

I can't wait until summer! This year promises a more colourful Liz. :) What are your colour picks for this spring/summer?

  1. Some great shoe porn there Liz! I was definitely on the orange/coral train this summer with lips, nails and clothes and still will be for as long as the weather permits :)

    1. I know! No clue when I'd wear such a thing aside from Halloween but I'm tempted nonetheless!

  3. It's funny; I've never been one to yearn for nudes/neutrals/pastels when the weather starts getting warmer - I've always looked for more of a pop of colour (oddly enough, I save my neutrals for Fall...go figure!) so these shades are totally up my alley! As to Dior's Saint Tropez, I can tell you right now that I will be totally rocking this shade ALL SUMMER (just as I did when Chanel released Nouvelle Vague!), and mainly because I totally love those types of aqua shades and because I'm a huge Tiffany girl (it i their signature colour, after all!). I also love corals - wearing Dior's Riviera on my hands as I type this! DVF dresses are among my favourites - I've been slowly adding pieces to my wardrobe for the past couple of years (I just picked up the most perfect flaw-minimizing black DVF dress for my dad's memorial service this Saturday - to go with the Valentino slingbacks!) We seem to have very similar taste, Liz...have you noticed that? PS: I love those Sephora lashes too!!

    1. You know why our tastes are so similar? Because we both love the beach ALL YEAR LONG. We yearn for it, crave it, want to vacation in it for the rest of our lives! Now why do we live in Montreal and Toronto of all places again??? LOL I think we also have the same love of luxury. I bought my first DVF wrap dress after the holidays. Unfortunately it's plain black but it'll service me for years and years. I don't have any Valentinos but that'll change some day. ;)

  4. Oh jeeeeez. The sneak peek of the Chanel Summer collection are killing me!! And holy mother, I wanna try those eye glosses of Dior - so fun!! And the polishes are definitely to die. ~sigh~ Right at this moment, I hate this low-buy business LMAO!! And only allowing for 3 LE products per season was a terrible idea - I already bought one already! Dammit!

I have to agree with you on loving color this Spring - I'm usually into muted, pale shades this time of year too but there's just so much gorgeous color everywhere! Bring. It. On!!

    1. I'm intrigued by the eye glosses but unsure whether they'll last on the eyes? I guess we shall see! The low buy was a terrible idea! Who started this, huh?? LMAO

I think the weather just sped up the desire for summer things. But summer is my best season and I'm looking forward to it!

  5. Yay, I'm looking forward to a more colorful Liz! Not that the old one was drab or anything. I'm right with you on the red/orange/coral trend. What the heck, man. That orange Dior gloss is SCREAMING my name. And St. Tropez - I will have it this year, ban or no.

I want to see Candy Apple on you. NOW.

  7. Oddly enough, the Chanel Summer collection is not really intriguing me. But Dior's? OH GOD I DIE.

I am also really into the tangerine/turquoise combo. Looking at that combination makes me oddly happy. I'm also enjoying chartreuse green/passion pink.

YAY LIP BUTTERS! Candy Apple is lovely! So glad you're getting into brights! :D

    1. Your enthusiasm always cracks me up! In a good way. :D

Chartreuse green/passion pink sounds great but they're not really me. Very pretty though!

I'm not going overboard with the brights but yes, brighter! :D

  8. ohh man those turquoise Holt Renfrew pumps! I'm all over the shoes in this post. And you know, I was definitely thinking pale subdued colors before I read this, now I'm craving color a little bit LOL so easily swayed.

I still love the idea of spring pastels but I don't wear them well. LOL @ being swayed - happens to me every time I read a blog post!

  12. So many gorgeous pictures of pretty things! :D I've completely skipped the pales and nudes this year, too. I couldn't wait to bring out the summery oranges, corals and bright pinks, and I love the tangerine and turquoise combo!

I can't wait to get my hands on a bottle of St. Tropez, and I'm really looking forward to the Chanel Summer collection, too. The orange nail polish looks lovely!

    1. I was flipping through some magazines this week and it seems bright colours are the trend for the season. We're on the right track, hahaha!

I like the warmth of the Chanel collection that seems to be on par with the feel of a summer sunset. Its not anything new or brilliant but the whole thing appeals to me very much right now.
