Shop with Liz: It's almost almost finally spring edition aka PEACH ATTACK

I had to go to the Eaton Centre for a skin care consultation with Vichy today, which I'll be telling you all about in the next post. Afterwards, I couldn't resist the urge to "look around" the mall and drew up a giant wish list during the course of the next four three hours (one hour was dedicated to the other super important activity: eating). If you've been reading for a while, you should know that I get a hankering for a certain colour seasonally. Sadly, it's never in synch with the Pantone colour of the year, which would have been super convenient. My stupid little heart marches to its own beat, and today, it was captured by soft peach of all the things.

Peach Things

I experienced a peach attack last year, but it was dedicated entirely to powder blushes. This year, it came to me in forms of mostly cream blush, lip gloss and nail polish. Bobbi Brown's Nectar and Nude Collection is largely to blame for it, as is Larie's orange posts and my own natural preferences to all things in that colour family. Call it orange, coral, nectarine, apricot, mandarin -- I like them all. Lately, I've been stifling an overwhelming desire to pick up every single orange cream blush ever made -- a natural transition after hoarding all the bright reds. But something about a softer peach suddenly captured my imagination. It's about as close to a pastel that will suit my skin tone, and now that it's finally something close to spring here in Toronto (so close but so far away!), I feel like it's time to lay aside the heavier things and switch things up with a more "fresh" tone.

I must confess that I've already fallen prey to Bobbi Brown Hibiscus Pot Rouge. I'm hoping that owning it will smother all the other urges, but I have serious thoughts about slowly making my way through all the items in this collage at some point or another. I think all this is also arising from the fact that I've actively shunned soft peach lip colours for my entire life and have nothing in my current collection to compare to or replace with. I also lay the blame at the altar of one Lisa Eldridge. I have neither Lisa's skills nor Clemence Poesy's delicate colourings, but... goddammit, this is why makeup is fun and our budget suffers every month.

What's your favourite peach makeup?

  1. OOO you got Hibiscus! I kinda sorta really want it, too! I'm TRYING not to buy more cream blushes, but you never know. It might still happen :p My favorite peachy thing is Estee Lauder Peach Passion! Every year around this time, I pull it out and fall in love with it all over again!

    1. I think you should get it, lol. I thought I wanted the Melon one or Calypso Coral but Hibiscus is much brighter and they don't have anything similar in their permanent lineup. EL Peach Passion wins just for the name!

  2. MUAHAHA ALL THE THINGS.

The peachiest thing I have is a Guerlain sun shimmer. It's actually quite pretty and the liquid is really easy to use. I'm still loving soft oranges (less pink) but also red-oranges and reds.

    1. ALSO ALSO THANKS FOR THE LINK LOVE.

    2. I liked that Guerlain but it was liquid so I ignored it. Now I'm obsessed with the Shu bouncy thing but it's $35 for a really shallow pot. TORN. x___x

    3. LOL I don't think...that is something you need to be concerned about :P Not unless you sprout three more faces.

  3. I can't deny I'm warming up to this color group lately. Maybe me finally getting the NARS Orgasm (which looks way more orange than I remembered!) is the proof? I will be happy with peach pink or coral anyway, for now.
BB makeup usually doesn't interest me, but this assortment looks so soft and pretty! ;o

    1. There was some soft peach in the Final Cut release too but they don't appeal to me for some reason. O is a bit too pink on me than peachy - such a shapeshifter! And the BB collection is SO PRETTY in person. I didn't think anything of it based on promos but everything looks so wantable up close. Ugh.

  4. Psst... I GOT ORGASM!!! All because of you and now I gotta be careful not to look like a disco ball! I think I'm addicted to it! Aaannndd it looks peachy on me! :)

I almost got the BB pot rouge but wasn't that impressed with the palette. Some of the shades appeared a little "hard" but I have yet to see glosses for some reason my Sephora hasn't recieved them yet.

    1. I wish O looked more peach and less pink on me, but I'm glad to hear you're liking it! It's perfect for spring!

I have some Pot Rouges in a palette from years ago and all three shades are still in remarkable shape, so I'm not worried about Hibiscus drying up. Sephora doesn't have the complete collection so it might help to visit an actual Bobbi Brown counter if you have one nearby.

I couldn't pick between Peach Pop and Ginger Pop. I'm also waiting for a good GWP event. Headed to your page now -- I saw peach on Twitter, lol.

  7. i have an iffy relationship with peach. sometimes it shifts too coral and that seems to be a no go for me. there are only a few peach things that really seem to work :( i need to embrace them like you have! or maybe not..since that will open up a new color wardrobe that i'll 'have to have'

    1. I like corals too so that will never be a huge issue, but you're right that it's really difficult to locate a true peach. From my collage, I think only 2-3 fit the bill.

  8. Agreed with Jenn F there - can't think of a peachy thing at the moment - they are either a bit orange or a bit coral. I love peachy pinks though!!

    1. The Chanel and Estee Lauder glosses I put up are genuine peach. I might have to get them to show you, hahahahahaha. ;)

  9. I don't have a lot of peach, I don't think...? Sometimes I get it confused with coral maybe? LOL I'm hopeless!

I have that Illamasqua blush (I think...is that Lover?) and while I liked it a lot the first year I had it, when I wear it this year it kinda falls flat on me, for whatever reason. My skin is suffering some serious winter doldrums so that could be it. I do love peach as a shade though, and it is quite wearable - that Dior gloss you've got up there is calling my name in particular!

Oh and also, I keep meaning to say this in other comments but HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, Liz. It sounds like it was a good one and I'm really happy to hear that :) Sorry I wasn't around to wish you on the day! I hope this year kicks major butt !!!

    1. They're both a mix of red and yellow so it can get confusing. I might research colour definitions and do a breakdown post someday. LOL

That is Lover indeed and I keep thinking of getting it, although the wanting is not so bad that I feel like I MUST own it. MAC Peaches is lovely and I feel like the two mustn't coexist in my stash, lol. But I wonder if the new MAC x Proenza Schouler peach ombre is something we can both look into. ;)

And thank you for the bday wishes! It was good and I would love nothing more than to kick this year's butt. :D

  10. I am likewise obsessed with peach make-up right now. Not in cream products, obvs, but in general, lol. My favourites right now are MAC Peaches and Cream Soda (LE from Archie's Girls last year) blushes, Clinique Peach Pop blush, Chanel 50 Rivage Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick, YSL 15 Corail Intuitive Rouge Volupté Lipstick, Tarte Pure Glamazon Lipstick, and MAC Honey Lust and Orb eyeshadows. YAY PEACH!

    1. LOL at "in general"

I kept seeing those Archie blushes on Instagram this week and had major regrets about not indulging! I guess it's the season, everyone's busting them out. I'm not digging peach eye shadows quite yet and for lips I'm after something very specific - kind of milky and pale but still opaque, if that makes sense. But I shall add your lip products to my list of things to swatch regardless, lol.

    2. Check out MAC's Gotta Dash! Sheen Supreme Lipstick. If you want paler, take a look at MAC To The Future! Pro Longwear Lipcreme. :)

  11. I adore peach, especially peachy cheeks! I totally get the idea of working your way through the collage too - nothing like checking all the things off your list especially a visual list like that :)

    1. The thing is these lists keep multiplying and I'm all over the place by the end, lol. It's fun though. :D

    1. Very loosely put, peach is orange with more yellow and coral is orange with more pink.
